Dairy Cattle Farm Operator

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to support the management of a commercial dairy operation.

The successful applicant will have practical experience in cattle handling, milking operations, animal health, feeding and herd management.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate dairy-farm equipment.
• Assist with daily milking.
• Prepare cows for milking.
• Clean milking facilities.
• Monitor milking equipment.
• Identify equipment problems.
• Feed cattle.
• Monitor water supplies.
• Monitor animal health.
• Assist with cattle handling.
• Assist with calving.
• Maintain livestock records.
• Maintain farm cleanliness.
• Follow biosecurity requirements.
• Assist with pasture management.
• Operate machinery where appropriately licensed.
• Maintain fencing and farm infrastructure.
• Report animal-health concerns.
• Follow occupational health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Previous dairy-farm experience.
• Good understanding of cattle husbandry.
• Ability to perform physical agricultural work.
• Reliable and responsible work ethic.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Driver’s licence advantageous.
